Home health care is important to many people for a variety of reasons. Many different health issues cause people to think about home health care. One of the biggest benefits is the person’s ability to stay in his or her own home and feel more independent for a longer time. Numerous seniors who are suffering from dementia or dementia-like symptoms can benefit from home health care, too.
Maybe we’re worried that Mom isn’t taking her medications as she should because she can’t remember if she took them, or what day it is. Maybe Dad isn’t eating like he should, not knowing for sure if he had breakfast or not. Sometimes seniors who live alone could just benefit from some interaction with a caregiver every day and we don’t live close enough to provide that one-on-one contact other than by phone. No matter the reason, home health is an excellent option for seniors with dementia.
Whatever the situation, home health may be the perfect answer. The family should first make a list of the concerns and the things that they may need a home health professional to take care of for their senior with dementia.
